Alexander McQueen designs for Target
To all the McQueen fans out there, get ready to celebrate! From March 1 to April 11, 2009, you will be able to buy clothes from a new line in collaboration with Target, via Target.com and Target’s retail stores, which focuses on making McQueen styles affordable and available to the masses.
The new line is called McQ Alexander McQueen for Target, and will be rock-inspired and in the current Target ‘cheap chic’ price range (less than $50 for a dress).
This collaboration is part of a new program developed by Target called ‘Designer Collaborations’ – different to its GO International which promotes up-and-coming designers.
Alexander McQueen has been called the ‘bad boy’ of fashion, though his recent Spring 2009 RTW has been rather more ‘earth-friendly’ than controversial in any way. In the program notes he mentioned that the collection was inspired by Charles Darwin, the survival of the fittest, as well as the “deterious results of industrialization on the natural world.”
