BBC’s Mariella Frostrup to host British Fashion Awards
Friend of George Clooney’s and BBC presenter Mariella Frostrup will be the host of the 2008 British Fashion Awards at Lawrence Hall in Westminster on November 25th.
The Awards are supported by the British Fashion Council and Swarovski. It is expected that over 500 industry leaders, “celebrities, designers, retailers, models and journalists” will be at the event “to celebrate the best of British fashion.”
Judgement will be conducted via top fashion media, retailers, critics and anyone that is most influential in the British fashion scene. Lucy Yeoman, editor of Harper’s Bazaar, will also be amongst the judging committee.
Mariella’s unique voice can usually be heard on the BBC but she will be leaving the airwaves for the night to recognise and reward outstanding British fashion talent – the most glamorous of the cultural industries. On presenting the awards she said ‘I am thrilled to be playing a part in this year’s British Fashion Awards which recognise both new talent and careers that have spanned a life-time. What better excuse to get dressed up than when you are among fashion’s elite.’
