Commes des Garcon for H&M: Another designer-mass-distributor coupling
I questioned H&M’s tastes when they did that range with Madonna – not that I am not a fan, just that I thought the following Stella McCartney collection was definitely more along the lines they should have been on.
This year H&M have scored a great deal with Commes des Garcon. One of the renowned anti-conformist labels on the runway, Commes des Garcon’s collection for H&M is a bit of a disappointment, actually. The collection hardly resembles the des Garcon style seen in their recent Paris Fashion Week Spring 2009 RTW show, and is a rather bland depiction of everyday wear.
I would’ve liked to have seen more playfulness with the textures on the women’s blouses as they did on their dresses in their own Spring 2009 RTW collection.
The Commes des Garcon collection for H&M will only be available in 8 stores across the US (4 of which are in New York city). The collection includes menswear, womenswear and accessories.
