The Heroic Clutch: Hayden Panettiere Clutch Bags for Dooney & Bourke
They’re made of Italian calfskin and available in five colors. All of which feature an oversized 24-carat gold plated lion’s head closure. Supposedly inspired by Heroes’ star Hayden Panettiere’s astrological sign, Leo. (Trying to copy Coco, anyone?)

Actually I’m annoyed because that was going to be my idea to have a lion’s head when and if ever I have enough funds to launch a fashion label of my own!

Too many lion icons in the fashion world now. What is going on with that? Are Fashionistas all Leos?? Even Madonna – recently seen sporting a ghastly Louis Vuitton green dress is a Leo.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Leo is associated with The Sun, and therefore – a star – and that equates stardom, and being loved and fame and all that brilliance.

Hayden Panettiere was in Las Vegas on Saturday promoting the launch of this new clutch.

Anna Wintour leaving Vogue?

Comments (1)
It’s the end of the magazine era, I say. (So you should subscribe to Edictive’s Feed!) Anna Wintour is “So tired out,” and nobody is surprised. “She just let Men’s Vogue close instead of fighting for it,” said an ‘insider’ on Page Six.

“Of course, this smells of bullshit (it is Page 6, after all) but we could also add that Vogue’s revenues are falling, Wintour is far from web-savvy in an increasingly web-based industry, and the fact that the flagship mag is feeling a little staid these days as other factors.” Pipeline has a whole list of possible stepper-inners for Wintour’s position of current Editor in Chief of Vogue and other titles.

I say, since they compared Anna Wintour to George W. Bush as one responsible and now stepping back from the “monster” they created… let’s invite Michelle Obama to be the new editor of Vogue! Or maybe even Vanessa Williams? (Just kidding)

Or the other option is that magazine publishers should just throw in the towel anyway because even I can’t remember the last time I bought a magazine.

Saliva for Fashion: Life after Project Runway for Eliza Jimenez

Eliza Jimenez)

(Above far-right top: Tim Gunn; bottom: Eliza Jimenez)

“It is actually not spitting; what I do is ‘blessing marks,’” said Eliza Jimenez, past-contestant of Project Runway (Season 4). Having been shot into the spotlight for her curious approach to garment design, Jimenez is now rather tired of the “girl that spits” reputation she has since received from being in Project Runway.

Yet being known for something is most likely better than not being known at all. Since now Jimenez’s clientele include the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz. Vogue also voted her amongst the Top 10 Independent American Designers.

Jimenez works with a lot of art and sculpture in her fashion shows – possibly due from her upbringing in a family of artistic parents. She puts a lot of thought into her pieces, and each garment can be worn in many ways. She also adds fragrances and works with organic fabrics, giving the wearer a holistic experience with their fashion fetish.

Jimenez had a lot of support from Tim Gunn on the show, Project Runway, who said he really knew she could do it.

Vivienne Westwood’s Gold Label in London

Comments (0) by Nicole.C
Vivienne Westwood’s Gold Label collection “Chaos Point” was unveiled to Londoners earlier this week. Apparently the inspiration for this season was the global ecological crisis.

A live orchestra played classical music and even ballet performances were on show.

The collection’s evolvement began when Westwood wrote a little narrative called “Active Resistance Against Propaganda.” It was about some former soldiers in a jungle, stumbling upon the miracle of life, and thereafter crusading for freedom and showing that “every person can change the world.”

Westwood – a former schoolteacher – read the story to schoolchildren and asked them to paint their visions of that story. Those images have since been incorporated in the Gold Label Designs.

(Can you tell?)

“My amazing greatest concern, more than anything that affects me in my life today, is the problem that we have to save the planet. So this is about the rain forest, and I went to the rain forest anyway. One day I would like to take some of these children, but we have to save it. If we don’t we won’t save the planet and it would be mass disaster,” said Westwood.

Ed Hardy Las Vegas
Viva Las Ed Hardy Vegas. From Saturday, November 22, there will be a grand opening of the all new Ed Hardy Las Vegas store at the Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Boulevard. Live performances on the mall runway will be happening from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm and a live DJ will be spinning the shizz from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

It is expected to be an entertaining evening, not only with the runway performances and live DJ but also as there will be champagne and hors d’oeuvres.

Christian Audigier is very excited about the new opening, as he calls Las Vegas his “second home.”

In less than four years, Christian Audigier has launched nine brands with over sixty licenses – all with the Audigier signature style of sexy-cheeky, bad-ass cool.

“Sin City is where sexy, all night fashion meets daytime function, and all of that can be found in Fashion Show Mall store!”

Marc Jacobs Pays $1 Million to Settle Allegations

Victoria Beckham for Marc Jacobs)

(Above left: Marc Jacobs; right: Victoria Beckham for Marc Jacobs)

All this time, when Marc Jacobs got to host his shows at the 26th Street Armory, and all the other designers were like, “Why can’t we get that too?” Well, now all their questions have been answered. Since it was all out of bribery that Marc Jacobs received exclusivity to the venue.

Though not entirely the Marc Jacobs himself who is to be faulted, of course. Some things must have gone unreported in their company newsletters, I am sure.

It was a superintendent of the Armory by the name of James Jackson who accepted – or possibly, demanded – the bribes of at least $35,000 in cash for Marc Jacobs to have exclusive access.

Other organisations such as the New York International Carpet Show had wanted to use the Armory as well, and were faced with Jackson’s hints that some more incentives were needed for him to allow them any access.

And that’s how the whole investigation even began.

Marc Jacobs has since had to pay $1 million to settle allegations, and a company spokeswoman has said, “We are pleased that this matter has been resolved. We have already taken and will continue to take steps to avoid incidents of this nature in the future.”

Diane Von Fursternberg Submits Sketches for Michelle Obama’s Inaugural Ball Gown

Michelle Obama

(Above left: Diane von Furstenberg; right: Michelle Obama

“Of course, everybody has” said Diane von Furstenberg about the fact that she has submitted sketches for Michelle Obama’s Inaugural Ball gown.

Seems that usually the Inaugural Ball gown itself is the pinnical of fashion-history making as each new first lady marks a new era of ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ for fashionistas to bother with their attention spans.

Jacqueline Kennedy however, designed her own gown and had it made by Bergdorf Goodman. Wonder if Michelle-O has a bit of the fashion designing eye herself – wouldn’t be surprised if she did.

Though whatever choice she makes, I have a feeling it will yet again be a ‘hate it or love it’ piece as with the pattern from the reactions of her dress on Election Day. Some First Ladies, such as Hillary Clinton, actually did better the second time around (when she had the help of Oscar de la Renta in 1997).
