Emerging Fashion Empires: LVMH, Watch Out!
Brazil, Russia, India and China are starting to emerge in the global fashion catwalk as retailers and investors continue to develop more and more interest in these areas of steadily-expanding fashion markets.
Brazil made a name for itself with Havaianas flip-flops and the whole fun-and-exotic vibe it so naturally created for itself. Stores have been opening up in New York and elsewhere containing Brazilian-designed clothing, shoes and accessories.
Indian fashion, on the other hand, has been gradually making a name for itself not only through its fashion weeks – sometimes two in the same city at the same time – yet recently also its latest Bollywood hit ‘Fashion’ really set the trend now for fashion and style-conscious consumers in the Indian market. How that relates to the US and UK fashion markets? Well a lot of private investors from Europe and the US have been quietly acquiring Indian fashion labels, which coincidentally, may result in such labels hitting local stores in Europe and North America very soon.
Russia and China are two steadily growing fashion markets with competition from the dominance of the likes of LVMH. The fashion scenes are brewing with an exciting mix of foreign-designer worship and celebrations of local talent.
Truly, this is a time to be getting excited about glofashionistabalisation.
