Nicole Kidman turned up at the Paris premiere of her new film Australia in a dress by Dries Van Noten.

Penelope Cruz was sporting Chanel at the New York launch of the Diamond is Forever Unbreakable Kiss installation honouring World Aids Day.

I don’t know how they both managed to look totally unfeminine and both seem so distant now from their previous red-carpet glamour-goddess selves.

It’s mainly the fact that both these ensembles just kind of hide the body, instead of flatter it. And I know I am criticising Drives Van Noten and Chanel right now, yet the reality is that when these outfits were being strutted down the runway on the stick-thin models, I hadn’t yet noticed.

Now that they are on ‘real’ women, I notice. Huh. Even Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz could not pull these off!

Okay, Penelope does it better than Nicole in this case. There is an interesting quirk about the hat and frazzled black lines on the white suit. Yet Nicole’s dress… ugh… she’s not 60. Seems like it should’ve been worn by Sophia Lauren.
