H&M – who recently launched a Comme des Garcons capsule collection – are now expanding to Israel, in partnership with local retailing company Match Retail Ltd.

“We believe that our business concept will suite the Israeli market well,” said Rolf Eriksen, H&M CEO. Tres excitement for Israeli fashionistas, except the first outlet is not due to open until 2010.

Meanwhile, Helen Mirren might be getting her own Marks & Spencer fashion label. As we saw with Michelle Obama being a beacon of light in the fashion industry for a middle-aged fashion icon or role model, Helen Mirren, who played the Queen, is definitely the ‘IT’ girl of the over-50s.

“She is a very stylish lady,” said Sir Stuar Rose, CEO of Marks & Spencer, “I once sat next to her at lunch and I remember her even if she won’t remember me.”

The whole concept for the partnership was inspired by a little comment Mirren made at the Oscars last year when she said designers often failed to make dresses with sleeves.
