Fashion Fandom: Paul Smith Gets Too Many Rabbits
Be careful what you say, they all say. Well, since 1982 Paul Smith has had to learn the consequences of that old-time warning, as he once said in an interview that rabbits were good luck to him, so he’s since been sent “a lot of rabbits,” even today.
Probably wasn’t what he imagined or expected of ‘success’ as a young 16 year old in a local clothing warehouse in Nottingham. It’s a wonder that his fans didn’t write to him asking why he doesn’t have rabbits on his branding.
Paul Smith has always been known as the designer who mixes “an unmistakeable Englishness” with a whole lot of quirk. His latest women’s ready-to-wear collection from London Fashion Week showed a range of impressive experimentation with country, exotic and urban feel. Lots of natural fabrics and colours of pinks, blues, yellows and creams, paired with really modern and elegant silhouettes.
