It looks like a Rimmel ad

Is it just me? I’m seeing this new YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick ad and immediately I do not think “Wow, Kate Moss is really selling that YSL lipstick to me.” Instead, I am thinking, “Wow, she looks just like she did in the Rimmel ads.”

And still, I think, Rimmel is more affordable. And I’m not old enough to be buying YSL lipsticks (I’ve always associated YSL with something that my ‘Aunties’ bought and that is from purely personal experiences). Yet do women who are old enough want to be reminded that they are old enough?

People say that they are happy to see Kate Moss as an example of a woman in her 30s still finding work in beauty and fashion. Yet just how much power does Kate Moss have now as a model who everyone knows is “over-30”? Is she simply now riding on sympathy-success or does she still manage to inspire women to actually purchase a product?

It seems like Kate Moss is just one of those celebrities that people generally tolerate and the media is always saying “Oh she has so many fans,” yet never in my life have I ever met one loud-and-proud Kate Moss fan. I’m starting to wonder if they are a marketing manager’s go-to ‘buzz word’ when making the advertorial pitch, like, “Oh we have to get Kate Moss. You know, because, she’s Kate Moss. She still has heaps of fans. Heaps. It’s undeniable. Numbers? No, you don’t need the numbers. You know, she’s Kate Moss.”

  1. The model named Kate Moss they said she’s too old. How can you be too old to model lipstick. Even my grandma wears lipstick. Besides 30 isn’t that old. Lots of people are over 30 and still wear lipstick.
