Juergen Teller, so you think Terry Richardson is too glam?
Juergen Teller fashion work is everywhere: i-D, Purple, W, Dazed & Confused, all the Vogues. He’s done major ad campaigns for Comme des Garçons, Marc Jacobs, Stüssy and Helmut Lang. There are the album covers for Elastica, Elton John, and Hole, and at last count, three books of his photography work were in stores, with another on the way.
Juergen Teller recently expressed his view on the fashion image industry in an interview for New York Magazine:
“Most fashion photography is done by gay people finding women sexy,” Teller says, “which is sort of not sexy at all, at least to a heterosexual man. She’s so retouched, so airbrushed, without any human response at all, and, well, you don’t really want to fuck a doll.”
While I somewhat assert with Tellers statement that most fashion photographs look over-edited, the guy started to loose his credibility to me with above, since his homophobia becomes apparent more than once throughout his interview.
I don’t even get why he thinks his pictures are so particularly amazing. Looking at his work de definitely does not come across as elite of fashion photography. He was in the right place at the right time for the right amount of time and worked with the right people to be as influential.
Juergen Teller himself helped create the “anorexic” female body ideal and continues to do so, it’s still in Vogue with his name on it. Juergen practically invented sadist fashion photography, he is a poster boy for male accomplish without implants or a lick of makeup.
Juergen Teller is yet another morally bankrupt “contemporary artist” who, like so many others, thrives on the wealth and attention that magazines bestow upon him. Saying that it is nice to see work like this sometimes and bitch about it.

It’s comments like that which make women (normally sexy, warm real women who may also look like a doll) meaning pretty, think of men as crude pigs. We then wrap our normal outgoing libido in disdain and good luck all you guys going without.

The first shot is about as appealing as any objectification of a woman. Does it never stop. A real man doesn’t need to feel superior. He’d rather have a “superior” woman.

And in the next to last shot the photog should be up on charges for filming an underage girl in that way. Call me uncool but has anyone realized how many perverts are in the world.

Hey Jeana you got that right. For sure I’m not anti-gay (not anti anything actually) but I wouldn’t want to approach his books unless I was carrying an extra heavy duty garbage bag. Any women out there who like this?
Of course men will like it - they aren’t focusing on “artistic” aspects of nude women.

To Gabriella,
Sad comment on how female children are objectified even before they are mature enough to be viewed a sexual objects.

Ladies ladies ladies. You’re probably just jealous cause no one is wanting to photograph you in the nude. Maybe you look bad even fully dressed.

Note to Jack. I look fine sans clothes or on my way to shop and find some “normal” garments. You sound like the average “pig” any worthwhile female would kick to the curb.

Beginning with his first shot of the legs protruding from the shopping bag, I sense a dislike of women in this photographers’s work. Especially disturbing is his use of an obviously underage girl in her panties. If not illegal it should be. Third, is that a nude submissive walking amongst the trees? I think people just pretend to admire his work to go along with the herd.

All those naked people look really ugly. I’m too young to be here. I’m not gonna sign my name even. The picture of the bag is gross.

Honestly - the women in these pictures are not appealing at all. I did sense an overall feeling of superiority. Meaning the women seem to be “put in their place” and that’s why men (especially Jack) like these photos.

I am a girl and i feel his work is gentle and interesting. The girls don’t even look young, women arn’t put in their place as they are in the middle of trees? Give him a break his work is very talented.
