Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Christmas Windows for Printemps, Paris
If you’re in Paris anytime between now and the new year, you are sooo lucky and I am so jealous! Karl Lagerfeld revealed the ‘Chanel’s Christmas wonderland’ window display at Paris’ Printemps last week, with much help from French animator Jean Claude De Hix.
The display features lots of spage-age looking puppets in signature Chanel-style quilted fabrics with space-age mini-skirts and thigh-leg warmers. The puppets were named ‘Coco dolls’ and each had the signature bob hairstyle of Mademoiselle Coco Chanel.
Floating around in a mystical planet of golden flowers and purple skies, these dolls are in a Christmas garden of their own. Each little ‘Coco’ has been hand-made and the entire display holds 2,500 black, gold and yellow Christmas baubles.
How ironic that Lagerfeld said to the press just last month that he was totally sick of himself and that “At a certain point, you ask yourself, am I a puppet or not?”
