So we’re really embracing this ‘Green’ thing now?

Junya Watanabe’s latest collection for Spring/Summer 2009 has women strutting down the runway in ugh… dried leaves and other flora wrapped in… giant nappies?

</p>

I’m sorry, I know that is not what it is supposed to be, yet this white one really does look like an upside down diaper.

The other models had okay headdresses such as these blue ones.

Yet… who are these women supposed to be attracting with their new style? Birds? Crows? Eagles, even? This is certainly one of those concepts that seems idyllic on the runway yet has zero practicality.

And, the worst part of this is that I just don’t even realise there are clothes on these models. These headpieces are a total distraction from the fashion. Though looking at the clothes, now, there are too many clashes of pattern. I know everyone is trying to be all ‘eco’ friendly now and it’s turning into the ‘Green Age’ but come on. It’s still supposed to be about fashion, and when it comes to fashion, most of the time, less can be so much more.

  1. Who wants em, the Field and Stream crowd. I would like the sundress in the third picture if I hadn’t been distracted by the growth on the model’s head. How do the models keep a straight face? :)
