Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Chloé
The Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear collection from Chloé is the first the fashion house has produced since the departure of former Creative Director Paulo Melim Andersson and the rise of new C.D. Hannah MacGibbon. The new hire was an act of keeping it in the family, as MacGibbon was an assistant to Phoebe Philo during the house’s late ’90s heyday.
Chloé has had lackluster showings for the past few seasons and MacGibbon faced the unenviable task of steering the house back towards its feminine glories while making her own mark. It was a thin line to walk but she was mostly successful.
Romantic scalloped jackets, ruffled blouses and dresses and flared shorts combined the retro and the refined. The color palette consisted of fresh neutrals and warm blues, greens and oranges. But MacGibbon really shined in the accessory department, with fashionistas taking notice of the color-block handbags and leather and plastic spiked heels. Overall, it was a fair showing by a new Creative Director who may find her name in the hallmarks one day alongside her mentor Philo.

The first two outfits to the left are pretty and something I would wear. Who wants to be pimped out like some science fiction weirdo, I like something pretty that I won’t tire of easily.
