The Barbie Show at New York Fashion Week
I know, this blog seems like it’s turning into a Barbie blog, yet how can it be helped when the dame decides she’s going to celebrate her 50th birthday at New York FASHION Week?
Apparently the Barbie show opened with a touching video story of Barbie’s beginnings and pretty pink car and house, and then a flashing heart monitoring, indicating the doll’s “coming to life.” Then, the very first model on the runway show was revealed behind the giant pink curtains, dressed in what the original Barbie doll wore when it was first released; a zebra-print sequined swimsuit, with blonde hair tied in a ponytail.
The collection featured designers Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Diane Von Furstenberg and many others (as already discussed in previous posts).
“In her 50 years on the planet, Barbie has enjoyed 100 different careers and had more than 40 pets including cats, dogs, horses, a panda, a lion cub and a zebra.”
The celebration is not to be exclusive to New York only, as Barbie plans to globe-trot for her grand 50th, and become one of the major highlights of London Fashion Week as wel.
