Copying Oscar de la Renta? – Acne Lanvin collection
The minute I saw the above-left photo I thought, Hmm, gee, cartoon-like illustrated wallpaper as backdrop to fashion collection, where have I seen that recently? (Duh.) Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2009 RTW at New York Fashion Week.
Aside from this obvious faux pas, however, the Acne Lanvin Capsule Collection for Acne Studios denim is not bad at all. 28 pieces of dresses, jeans, blazers, shorts and tops all made of denim. All with the Lanvin touch. Registration for news and alerts can be completed on the official web site. Otherwise, hold on to your purses until next month.
Lanvin designed a much younger look for Acne denim compared to its own Spring 2009 RTW collection as seen at Paris Fashion Week in September. Shapes in the Capsule Collection range are also more exaggerated and more fun. Some impressive trench coats and menswear as well.

I don’t really see how they are saying Lanvin is copying de la Renta – I don’t think they are similar at all.

lanvin’s doodle print has been a signature at the house for quite some time now… additionally, the two backdrops look absolutely nothing alike. oscar’s background was painted to look like a french salon.
