Well, everybody’s been doing it. Gossip girls’ cast, Heros’ cast, even Madonna doesn’t stop in her 50s – apparently the new 30s! So what’s Tyra Banks got against associating her name with fashion products?

“I don’t just want to throw my name on stuff like that,” said Banks. “Oh, my God, I’ve had the opportunity. And I could have retired off of doing that type of stuff. I just feel that the marketplace for celebrities throwing their names on things is oversaturated.”

It is quite puzzling to wonder why Banks – a model – would feel any kind of sudden protectiveness over her name when she has already thrown her body into the advertising milkshake.

And sure she doesn’t want to launch a lingerie label like Elle Macpherson, yet she’ll gladly accept television offers?

Probably it is hard to sign off on a relationship with a product if you don’t completely believe in it, and with Banks the pattern has been that she does choose projects she is truly passionate about.

I admire her for her efforts in Top Model as she tries so hard to teach the aspiring models to be sane about their work.
