Pierre Bergé has put in place some thorough plans for a large retrospective exhibition on the life and works of couturier Yves Saint Laurent, to be shown at the Petit Palais in Paris, in 2010. The exhibit will feature around 300 of Laurent’s pieces and will be hosted by the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation. Currently there is a Yves Saint Laurent Style exhibition on show at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco from now until April 5th, 2009. This will be the first complete exhibit of Yves Saint Laurent’s 40 years of fashion work to have reached North America.
The Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent foundation aims to “conserve the 5,000 Haute Couture garments and the 15,000 accessories, sketches and assorted objects that bear witness to 40 years of Yves Saint Laurent’s creativity,” as well as organize exhibitions for fashion, paintings, photography, drawings and other cultural and educational projects.
